my writing inspirations

my writing "method"

I just write everything at once and switch between projects depending on where my inspiration strikes, and for what.

as an autistic person, my focus can change quickly and fluctuate in extremes, both in level of inspiration and the focus thereof.

as a result of this, my ability to do something akin to multitasking is unusually heightened.

I thrive in something of an organized chaos.

the only way I know to evade writer's...writers'? block is by having SOMETHING to write, something for my mind to gnaw on.

so I have more than 4 works in progress at most times. I can't work on something my brain isn't currently latched onto,

or I'll burn out, so I just keep switching. it's slower going than many neurotypical writers.

also, when I have the inspiration, I HAVE it, so I can't wait too long to write after it hits, or I get completely antsy,

and it feels like restless ants are trying to gnaw their way out of my bones.

due to this, I often end up writing at weird times of day, in weird places, and then having to email it between devices.

another symptom that my autism presents me with is a major struggle retaining even the most sparkling ideas.

the notes app on my phone is ALWAYS handy for that kind of thing, and if not, perhaps if my phone is out of battery,

the idea is essentially gone forever, vanished.
